How it works

Most people fail the theory test because they memorised a question bank instead of learning the road. This is built the other way round.

Learn the shape and the symbol follows
Signs are the largest part of the paper. Every one in the course is drawn as vector artwork — crisp at any size, correct in both themes, and grouped by the family that tells you what kind of instruction it is giving.
Stop

Come to a complete stop at the stop line. Proceed only when the way is clear — slowing down is not enough.
Left hairpin bend

A near-180° bend to the left. Drop to a low gear before entering and stay wide of the inside edge.
No entry

The rules you are tested on come from the Motor Vehicles Act and apply everywhere. What changes is where you apply, which languages the test is offered in, and what your state charges on top. Every state and union territory has its own page.

Questions people actually ask
Is this the official RTO test?+
No. drive is an independent study aid with no affiliation to any RTO or to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. Applications and the real test happen on Parivahan Sarathi — every state page links straight to it.
Do the questions match my state's paper?+
The rules being tested are national: the Motor Vehicles Act and the Central Motor Vehicles Rules apply identically everywhere. What differs by state is administration — where you apply, the languages offered and the state's service charges — and that is what the state pages cover.
What format is the mock test?+
Ten questions, six correct to pass, ten minutes — the format most states run on the Sarathi terminal. A few states set a longer paper, so check your state page before test day.
Does it cost anything?+
